> Doctoral student from Paris visiting the ITM

Pawel Kamocki , researcher from Paris, is currently visiting the ITM (until the end of May 2015). Pawel is a PhD candidate at Paris Descartes (Institut Droit et Santé) and at WWU Münster (ITM). He holds Master’s degrees in copyright law, linguistics (2011, both from the University of Warsaw), IT law and comparative law (2012, both from Paris Descartes). He also works (since 2012) as a research associate in the Institut für Deutsche Sprache in Mannheim and is involved in a number of international and European projects (such as Research Data Alliance and European Data Infrastructure) concerning research data access and sharing.

His thesis (The law of e-Knowledge) is supervised jointly by Prof. Luc Grynbaum (Paris Descartes) and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren (WWU Münster). It is intended to present legal aspects of e-research and e-learning involving various legal frameworks (in particular intellectual property and personal data protection) and discuss current practices and the need for new statutory exceptions.

He is currently working (with Marc Stauch and Jim O’Regan) on privacy aspects of free online machine translation tools.
