> Podcast: The European Health Data Space (EHDS)

The EU’s data strategy creates a new area of law: data business law. While data law has so far focused primarily on the protection of personal data and, most recently, on the security of the data infrastructure, the new legal acts (Data Act, Data Governance Act and the sector-specific data rooms) aim primarily at efficient data use through data sharing. A European single market for data is thus being created. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is the first data space of its kind, specific to the health sector. The requirements of the EHDS will significantly shape health data research in the future and mean considerable changes for university hospitals, medical faculties and health data research in general.

In this episode, research assistants Johanna Voget and Ole-Christian Tech give an overview of the complex regulatory framework and its role in the European data strategy.
