> Vortrag “Some Criminal Policy Trends in IP-Right” von Prof. Pablo Rando Casermeiro

The world of IP criminal protection offers great possibilities to compare different countries’ legal systems. A great example was the presentation on current criminal policy trends in IP-protection held by Pablo_Fotos_Oktober2014 255ITM-guest researcher Prof. Pablo Rando Casermeiro. In the beginning, Prof. Rando Casermeiro addressed multi- and bilateral international agreements on strengthening IP rights worldwide as well as the US Special 301 Reports, with which the USA tries to export their IP criminal law. Covering different legislative approaches on new IP-crimes like camcording and end-user-piracy, Prof. Rando Casermeiro deduced criminal law principles, which can predominantly be learned from German criminal law. According to him, one of the most important principle is that criminal law should not be used for educational purposes in the IP-area.
