> Digital Preservation Legal Ontology

In cooperation with the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID) and the Karlsruher Institut für Technology (KIT), ITM has developed a Legal Ontology for the digital preservation domain (Legal DSO). Our ontology visualizes legal concepts underlying digital preservation. Working on a variety of use-cases our project partners have collected the business processes to be archived. As the only legal partner in Timbus-Project, ITM has investigated these technical concepts with regard to their legal permissibility. A C-Map visualizes those complex legal relationships. The Ontology gives an overview and helps to raise awareness for legal issues arising in the preservation domain.

Our Ontology is unique within the field of digital preservation.
